FTDM Match 16, Round 4!

Previous Rounds: 01 , 02&03

Team Ragnorak falls behind after Round 1.  Team Neeson is favored by the Demon.  But for how long?
Only the purifying storms summoned by Ra's Al Ghul can seem to keep the Norse Gods at bay.  Will it be enough?
Luck be a Norse God tonight?

Christmas Cyberdemon stands ready and waiting...the 12h time limit is lifted until 12/26/12!

  3. "WHO DARES STRIKE DOWN ODIN?" the god bellows as he returns onto the field. Running into the fray, he spies the brave Balder. "Balder, do you feel like hunting lion?"

RBA vs Aslan: (11)+8=19 vs AC 17 +2 power bonus from NoHS +2 untyped bonus from Aslan being prone and not adjacent to Balder...19 vs AC 21...miss! untyped bonuses save the lion!

Odin assumes the void in G5...

Aslan stares down his hunter, still protected by the divine shield. Does he pounce upon Balder?

      Delete
  4. Pouncing Balder would take just too much effort… Instead Aslan sits up and has a staring contest with Balder to convince him Aslan’s nice and could use a scratch. Then Aslan will eviscerate him.

    Tech:
    Move: Stand (stupid prone condition).
Standard: Steel Wind on Balder. +6 vs reflex. On a hit 1d8+5 damage and use Flurry of blows for an extra 3 points and pull Balder to C9.
    Minor: Sustain the cyclone.

Okay Asgardians can you kill the lion who only has 1 hp after the burning?

Steel wind: (11)+6=17 vs Reflex 16..hit! for (1)+5+3 flurry damage= 9 damage. Balder is slid to C9 (here kitty kitty) and is at 23 hp.

      Cyclone sustained.
Aslan drops to 1 hp as the lion burns.

Balder is up! Map and stats updated as well.

  5. "Bring your face to my twin blades, lion! I am the Mighty Hunter with these as well."

    Free action: drop longbow
    Two minors: draw both longswords
Standard: Twin Strike(2 attacks): +7 vs AC, 1d10+0, Hunters Quarry adds +1d6

      The hunter draws his fangs!

      [Carnage]
Twin strike: (6) & (6)+7= both attacks at 13 vs AC 19. Double miss, OUCH. We'll stop using those dice for now....

Loki respawns at location 1, full of vim, vigor, blessed with a +2 bonus to attack rolls from Thor still (as it keys from him, not Loki).

  6. Loki's turn, as per email:
He'll move to H16, curse Ra's, then charge. Should be 2d8+1d6+5 damage (+5 damage if it bloodies Ra's). +9 vs. AC (+8 +1 charging). During the Charge, Loki will make an athletics check to jump over as much terrain stuff as he can. Oh, and an additional +4 to damage on Ra's for being relentlessly wounded.

    [OOC]
Athletics check first: (14)+8=22 total, he can easily jump to I14 and continue his charge. However, he has landed in the cyclone, so Aslan may shift him if he desires, as per the powers description. But it looks to me like no matter where Loki is blown too, the cyclone would not be able to move him far away enough to continue and complete the charge, so can Aslan decide whether he wants Loki in the flames or outside the tower.

    [Carnage]
Charging Eldritch Strike: (2)+9+2 from Thors blessing=13 vs AC 16.
Roll a 2, drink the christmas hooch!

Oskar's turn is up! Loki will be placed upon the map once I hear from Kurt about where he was slid initially upon jumping into sq I14.

Oh yes, the heroic effort of Loki! Turns this into a 17 vs AC 16, enough to hit. Too bad Ra's staff of defense wasn't recharged yet...

Damage: (6+2)+(3+4)+5+5 from bloodying him+4 from relentless wounded= 29 damage! Ra's falls to -8 hp.
Looks like the hooch rewards Loki, seems fitting, really!

    2. The staff of defense is recharged... Ra's respawned since he used it last.

    3. [OOC]
Damnit, I am an idiot. Ra's AC jumps to a 19, the attack misses. You think I'd remember that.

  7. Minor/move: pick up the railgun and the plasma rifle.

Standard: fire 5 shots at Thor.

Plasma Rifle over the Cyberdemon and through the Tower of Babel to kill Thor he goes! It's a great item combo, ain't it folks?

      [Carnage]
Five shots at Thor: (19, 11, 15, 14, and 4) +6 vs Reflex 12. Four hits for 20 fire and thunder damage. Thor is bloodied at 8hp now.

Oskar burns for 5 fire damage and is at 15 hp.

Qui-Gon's turn is up. Map and stats updated shortly.

      Delete
    2. Is Thor wearing a sign that says "Shoot me with plasma"?

Also, no Heroic Effort love for Loki? We'll hit even despite your dice rolls, Mr. DM Sir!

      Delete
    3. [OOC]
James, you obviously are...seeing you were also running, which means that last shot actually hit as well. that 4+6+2=12, just enough to hit a slow undead dwarf trying to teleport around! Thor takes another 5 fire/thunder damage and is at 3 hp. Loki's hit also updated.

      Delete
    4. Uh Thor, you may want to talk to Loki. You have a great big sign taped on your back saying "Plasma me"

  8. "Hmmm. My saber does not appear to be effective in this dark place. Very well, I shall use this arena to fight my enemies."

    Tech
Free: Start turn on pentagram to activate it

Move to E12 using Cyclone for two squares.

    Minor: Pick up rocket launcher

    Standard: Fire rocket at C8
    +8 vs AC of Balder
6d6 fire and thunder, half on miss

    1. [OOC]
It's always the rocket you DON'T hear that going to get ya, isn't that right Steve? Qui-Gon picks up this weapon designed for scoundrels, aims, and fires a candy cane colored rocket the size of an ewok. It showers the area in fire, and thunder, and everything nice (bits of lion and undead flesh).

      [Carnage]
The move checks out, they really love riding that cyclone, don't they?

C8: The rocket launcher is an area burst 1, so it doesn't blow up JUST Balder. Aslan is a target as well!

      Balder:
      (13)+8=21 vs AC 18...hit!!!
      Aslan:
(4)+8=12 vs AC 19..miss, for half damage...like it will matter...

Damage: (6+5+6+4+1+3)= 25 fire and thunder and candy cane damage. I will assume Balder uses Resilience of Stone here, and gains 8 hp (total 31 before the damage is rolled)Balder then drops to 6 hp and is bloodied. Balder prevents the KILLING SPREE, even with such an above average roll

Aslan takes 12 F/T damage and drops to -11, or half negative bloodied value and is GIBBED!
Team Neeson (4) leads Team Ragnorak (6), but the gap is closing....

THOR IS UP, can he finally charge something?
Map update in the morning...remember, tomorrow still falls under the suspended posting time. Hope everyone had a great holiday!

//headdesk. This is what happens when I type something out on my mobile.

All creatures within teleportation archway (4) take 20 fire damage...so...LOKI! He drops to 12 hp. Maps all updated.

  9. OOC: Yay, charge!

"Today have I learned a trick or two from my brother, Demon's Head." Thor blinks out of existence briefly, but finds himself still out of hammer range of the Batman Rogue. "Alas, I am not a master yet of the arts of trickery. Head-on appeals to me more!" He pulls back Mjolnr, then lunges forward with the strength of a god!

Finally, standing burnt and dazed in the flaming courtyard, he says a quiet prayer to Odin. "Father, grant me the will to fight on against such thankless demons..."

    [Tech]
    Move: teleport to N-8
Standard: charge to J-12, using Howling Strike on Ra's al Ghul
       Attack: +6 +1 (juggernaut) +1 (charge) = +8 vs AC 16
       Hit: 2d6 brutal +1d6 +6 +4 (wounded) damage
On a crit: hit him again, just to make sure (+9 vs AC 11; 2d6 brutal +10 damage)

The howl, the thunder! No crit, but a trio of d6's to roll!

Howling strike: (12)+8=20 vs AC 16..hit! for (4+6 DEATHMATCH!+2)+10= 22 damage. Ra's is dropped to -1 hp! Oh, it he wasn't so relentlessly wounded!

Thor takes 10 fire damage, drops to -7hp, and is dazed as the undead dwarf he is.

Team Ragnorak is gaining on you Liam!

Ra's then respawns at location 2. Score and map updated momentarily.

Cyclone+whirlwind= MY MY GOD GOD. You might as well have created a blackhole!
      Ra's gains a teleport speed.

      CYBERDEMON
(19)+8 vs Balder AC 20..hit! Balder takes 20 F/T damage and is dropped to -14 hp. NOT GIBBED, the toughness of norse gods prevails.

(9)+8= 17 vs Loki AC 13..hit! Loki drops to -8 hp. Thor, being adjacent, takes 10 F/T damage and drops to -17 and is GIBBED.

No need to roll an attack on Thor (and therefore potentially cause more damage to Loki) as he was just GIBBED. If only the god of thunder was as strong as his brother Loki!

The Cyberdemon howls in glee. What a gory Christmas it is for he!

Round 5 starts here with Odins return:

    2. OOC: Wait ... is Ra's trying to use both his Arcane Whirlwind and Aslan's Cyclone Scourge? Because that wouldn't work, Cyclone Scoureg only triggers on a creature entering the zone, and forced movement doesn't count as 'entering'.

      Unless I'm missing something here?

      Delete
    3. well, if the cyclone scourge isn't triggered, I'd still be able to use the whirlwind to put him at H14 to the same end effect.

As brought up, Thor needed a saving throw before going from one hindering terrain to another pre-GIBBING --> (1!) everything stays as is, my apologizes to Team Ragnorak for the continual fragging...but you keep giving me so many opportunities.

      We continue in Round 5!
