Play by Post FTDM 14 - Tomb of the Iron Lich, Round 5

As round 5 starts, the score is tied. California Mountain Snake stares down the Iron Golem, rolls a (20) as the save and laughs.

  1. There must be 50 ways to lose your lover.

    ***TECH***
    Move to G17.
Minor - Move to E17 (Fallen Needle. Provoke OA from Teurama)
Standard - Fallen Needle Vs Marduk, pop Heroic Effort if necessary. +5 vs Reflex (1d10 + 4d8 + 5 damage and the target takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls against me until the end of my next turn.)
If Marduk is dying but not dead and an extra 5 damage will do the deed, I'll taget him with Flurry of Blows, Otherwise I'll flurry at Teurama.
If Marduk is DEAD, then Teurama loses her benefit and she takes 7 damage from my Flurry of Blows instead.
If Teurama is still alive, drop two shourds on her as a free action (Targeted for Death).
If Elle is on a killing spree, she'll bank the AP for next round.

Okay, I can't seem to get any witty Paul Simon reference (though there are 50 ways to love your loser as well).
Teurama's OA: (13)+2=15 vs. 15 HIT. Damage (3)+2=5 so Elle's at 3 temporary hit points (12 regular still).
The attack on Marduk (1)+5=6 vs. 17 HUMILIATION. Elle is prone.

    Euryale turn is now!

    1. Elle is also ending her turn adjacent to TEURAMA THE LICH. Thus, she takes 5 cold and then 5 necrotic damage.

  4. Hey, guys, just askin'...does this hair go with this dress? I feel like the hair is kinda busy. You there, you big manly man? Come on over and give me a look....

    Tech:
Move to G14 (I am immune to OA via Charioteer)
    Minor to curse Budd
    Standard to Eldritch Blast at Budd: +6 + 2 (flank) vs ref of 15, 1d10 + 5 + 1d6 (curse) damage.
Heroic Effort if I miss since it did not go off last time.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Hmmm, there nothing saying flanking has to be a melee attack that I can find, so Budd's flanked.

Attack: (5)+6+2+4(heroic effort)=17 vs. 15 hit. Damage (3)+5+(1)=9 so Budd's at 13 hp with no temporary left.

Black Mamba you know you want a card.

  7. Black Mamba saunters back from the dead once again, shaking her head as she walks up to Kotaresh.

    "Nothing personal, Budd."

    [tech]
    Spawn: 2
    Card: No.
    Move: G11
    Standard:
Tempest Breath: +7 vs Ref on Kotaresh, Euryale and Sidewinder, though I've been informed by James that I'm apparently at -5 to hit him. On hit, 2d6+10 acid damage and the target can't gain CA until the end of my next turn and I gain concealment until the end of my next turn.
    Action Point:
Burning Spray: +7 vs Ref on K, E, S, same thing. On hit, 1d8+10 fire damage and the next enemy to hit me with a melee attack before the end of my next turn takes 4 fire damage.
If either attack misses Sidewinder I will use the Vorpal weapon's encounter power to add 1d12 to the damage, if both miss him and one hits both K and E I'll use it on that one.

  8. Per e-mail, minor sustain lightning breath.

Morning breath after being asleep for years can kill... Someone give Black Mamba a breath mint.
    Tempest Breath:
    Kotaresh: (10)+7=17 vs. 15 hit
    Euryale: (5)+7=12 vs. 12 hit
    Budd: (5)+7-5=7 vs. 15 miss
Black Mamba uses the vorpal weapon power on this for an extra d12 for a total of (6)+(5)+10+(1)=22 (okay d12, do you want an acid bath, that's your second 1 on vorpal weapon). Kotaresh is at 0 hp, Euryale is at 10 hp.
    Burning Spray:
    Kotaresh: (15)+7=22 vs. 15-5=10 hit.
    Euryale: (10)+7=17 vs. 12 hit.
    Budd: (18)+7-5=20 vs. 15 hit.
The damage is (2)+10=12 so Kotaresh is gibbed at -12, Euryale is dying at -2 and Sidewinder is at 1 hp.
Black Mamba is on a KILLING SPREE!!!

Cottonmouth looks the golem in the eyes and... (15)... turns to just walk away.

  9. The shouts of fury and rage are music to O-Ren's ears. She gracefully swings around the pillar and charges teurama. A Ross in any form is still a Ross, and must be slaughtered!

    Tech:
Minor: assume the aspect of the cunning fox.
Move: to F15, seeing that Euryale is KO'd.
Std: charge Teurama, +12 vs AC...1d8+5 and add1d8 from power strike (still haven't used it!!!!)
If I hit, dual weapon attack as a free action: +8 vs AC, 1d6+5.

Free action from aspect of the cunning fox to shift back two sq to F15, there missing out on Ross's cold dead hands.

    1. Oh, and add vorpal damage on a hit as well. I had to go look backwards.....STILL HAVEN'T VORPALED ANYONE YET!!!!!!!!!

And damn, if only I'd have a chance to draw another card....;)

  10. DM gibbed for delay of game.

O-Ren charges Teurama: (9)+12=21 vs. 15 hit. For (5)+5+(8)+(1, vorpal why have you failed me)=19 which take Teurama down to -7. Then the second weapon: (14)+8=22 vs. 15-5=10 HIT. for (6)+5=11 taking Teurama down to -18 hp gibbing him. Team KILL ROSS! has yet again KILLED ROSS.

Sidewinder starts his turn with a single hit point.

Too bad that's not an option, huh? So... one of my teammates was suggesting a course of action that just wasn't deadly enough for me. Not sayin' who, but Second Wind? I think you guys can take me out as easily at 8 HP as at 1.

So. They. Call. This. Death. Match.

    [Tech]
    Move: to F-18
Standard: Thundering Burst on CA Mtn Snake and Marduk
Effect: CMS gains +1 power bonus to AC until the end of my next turn.
       Attack: +5 vs Marduk's Fort 13
Hit: 5d8+5 thunder damage (nowhere to push)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Great picture.

The Thundering Burst goes off. (8)+5=13 vs. 13 hit. Damage of (1)+(7)+(6)+(7)+(4)+5=30 leaving Marduk slammed against the wall at -12 hp (but not quite dead, yet). Elle get's here +1 AC.

And then Marduk self-gibs and is quite dead now. You're down by 3, doesn't the deck look tempting now?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Wait, was that Thundering Burst the Swordmage close burst attack, or the Artificer At-Will?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It was Thundering Burst. He even says he was also targeting CMS in his post.

DM, if you'd be so kind.

      Delete
    2. Aw geez. Uh, yeah, it's the Artificer At-will, "Thundering Armor"

Like most Artificer tricks, it does something hit or miss (+1 AC), then is weird and wonky with targeting. 'Cause why not use an epic tier swordmage power?

  16. NOOO!!!! MARDUK!!! We can no longer be Lovers now! Wherefor shall Teurama go to satisfy her desire for weird, gross Fourthcore sex?

Tuerama preemptively draws a card from the Deck of Mortals, and cries tears of blood.

  17. Marduk spawns at square 1 and boldly swings at Elle. +6 vs. ac 1d8+7

On a hit ambush trick to walk to d17 and return to the teleporter appearing at 2 and continuing my move to F8 where I will AP charge Black Mamba with cunning sneak for +14 vs ac 3d8+3d6+7 (with furious assault).

On a miss on my initial attack, unbalancing trick to D17 where I will melee basic Elle +8 vs AC 2d8+7 (with furious assault) and on a hit she is prone.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I really want to post my conditional actions quickly, but everything depends on the card draw. F5F5F5!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Elle gets cover for being attacked around the corner (and thus only +6). (14)+6=20 vs. 16. Hit for (7)+7=14 leaving California Mountain Snake at -9 hp.

Then jumping through a portal Marduk sneaks up on Black Manba and charges. I assume that you use Backstab to the the +14 attack roll and the extra 1d6. The attack (16)+14=30 vs. 14... I guess you could consider that a hit. The damage is (4)+(5)+(2)+(4)+(4)+(5)+7=31 leaving Black Mamba at -8. MARDUK IS ON A KILLING SPREE.

Teurama boldly draws the Witch... does anyone have an ongoing effect... I want to see a frog in this game.

    ReplyDelete
  20. A ballsy move, one full of courage and sacrifice as I sacrifice my own personal glory by not taking an attack so as to lead my teammmates into a momentous crescendo of violence and a second Killing Spree!

    Start at Location #4
Double run to setup a flank on O-Ren and grab the Golem's attention by being in square G-17.
Cast a prayer: Oath of Enmity, on O-Ren, ready to divinely guide Kotaresh's next attack.

Kotaresh! Step over Elle who is spazzing out on the floor looking for her eyeball, get Euryale back in the game, and FUCKING WRECK HOUSE!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Kotaresh draws a card, because no matter what he gets, something very special is about to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well not much for me to do. Teurama does exactly what Ross posted.

Kotaresh boldly draws the Hierophant card... every respawn he gains a randome magic item card... but there's only a Lich card left so looks like Kotaresh is a lich now (unless I'm reading the Hierophant wrong).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Straight from the map designer, the card refers to the E1M1 magic item card deck. Kotaresh is not a lich, he has the Chaos Devise, he can as a minor action be teleported to a random spawn point.

      Delete
  23. A voice can be heard echoing on the wind. "Pai Mei taught you the five point palm-exploding heart technique?"
"Of course he did," Kotaresh replies.

Spawn: At 1, dance to E17, squishing CMS' eyeball between his toes.
Standard: Crane's Wings to O-Ren. +8 vs Fort (because of flanking, plus some more from Teurama). 1d10+6 (because of bloodied). If it is necessary to use Furious Assault to finish her off, I do. On a hit, Flurry of Blows on Sidewinder for an 8 auto-gib.

I will take the rest of my turn when this resolves.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Additionally, if O-Ren is hit but somehow survives my attack AND furious assault, I instead Flurry of Blows her.

      Delete
  24. Dance to E17? Oppa Gangham Style!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Kotaresh dances to O-Ren and attacks. (1)+8=9 vs. 13 HUMILIATION! Well Kotaresh was never a very good dancer and has fallen on his ass.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Right from Ross' previous post.

Seeing Kotaresh slip Teurama uses divine guidance and Kotaresh gets another attempt (without falling on his ass). (10)+8=18 vs. 13 hit. O-Ren takes (5)+6=11 hp taking her to 0 hp. Sidewinder takes 8 points of damage leaving him at -7. Kotaresh is on a KILLING SPREE!!!!

So all of team Kill Ross! is on the floor like the Crazy 88, so what do you do with the rest of your turn.

    1. As an encounter power Oath recharges on my death, too. You might both be oathed! Lol

      Delete
  27. Minor: Sustain weapon on O-Ren.
Move: Drop to minor to use Healing Word on Euryale. 1 Healing Surge +1d6 and no longer dying. BAM.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sorry, the Astral Weapon's attack is +5 vs Ref, 1d10 damage, if you actually want to roll it out.

      Delete
    2. Oh, and as Ross pointed out in an e-mail, -5 to all defenses and auto-crit for being unconscious.

      Delete
  28. With the possibility of seeing you humiliated (or anyone for that matter), of course I want to roll it. (7)+5=12 vs. 16-5=11 hit for (1) damage, making O-Ren officially dying.

Euryale is now at 8+(4)=12 hp.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Shouldn't O-Ren have been auto-crit? It's essentially a coup-de-grace.

      Delete
    2. You're right, so O-Ren's at -10.

      Delete
  29. The Iron Golem is 2 spaces away from both Euryale and Teurama, but he can't hit both with his vomit, so evens he attack Euryale odds he attacks Teurama. (2) he attacks Euryale. (7)+6=13 vs. 14 miss.

Next round will be posted shortly.
