Bob McKenzie, The Master, Celine Dion, The Doctor, Last Centurion, Jack Harkness, William Shatner, Alex Trebek
The first round started off very slow, a complete crawl by FTDM standards. Let's hope those wily Canadians stay on the board long enough to get some kills!
Already we can see the layout of the strategy here on both sides. The Eh Team has a very uniform strategy of simply not being on the board. If they don't exist, you can't kill them, right? Team Who? has a much more diverse set of tactical options available to them, which may prove useful as a means of changing their game mid-match to counter what Canada can throw at them.

Bob McKenzie shows up again on the board, wandering in from the blinding snow drifts of the Great White North. Let's see some death!

ReplyDeleteWith a puff of smoke and the distinct smell of brimstone I reappear several feet from where I disappeared. "excuse me, the beer didn't mix with the beans they were serving in the void of non existence..."
ReplyDeletetech:
appear at E3.
Minor action: Wizard's fury.
Drain: to E5 and hit the bumper. Combo 1: Bob to F2, Centurion to A1. Combo 2: Centurion to B4, Doc to A3.
Move Action(minor): Magic Missile to Doc for 7 damage.
Standard action: Freezing burst centred on Doc (1d6+5 dmg to doc and centurion).on hit slide 1+1(feat).
Contingency on hit - slide centurion to B6. Slide Doc to A5,
"All tremble before the terrible power of Bob!"
I hope I got the names right, By Centurion I mean the guy at C3 and by Doc I mean the guy at A1 as of the start of my turn...
DeleteYeah, glad to hear I'm not the only one having trouble figuring out who is who on The Eh Team.
DeleteGetting pulled to E5 puts you into a Telethrower, not a Bumper. I think you have the right mechanics, but the wording was throwing me off for a second there. Putting the Combo text in the middle of the post makes things harder to track, too, as those actions really happen at the end of turn. I think we're good though. It does mean that Magic Missile and Freezing Burst are cast while adjacent to The Centurion.
I think I got all the bouncing around right. If not, repost the turn with everything in the right order.
Opportunity Attack: (15)+7 vs. AC 15; HIT!
for (1)+5 damage! Bob is down to 17 HP.
The Master takes 7 to drop down to 21 HP.
Freezing Burst vs. The Master: (5)+6 vs. Reflex 11; HIT!
Freezing Burst vs. The Centurion: (8)+6 vs. Reflex 11 +2; HIT!
for (2)+5 cold damage! The Master is bloodied at 14 HP and The Centurion is down to 20 HP.
Whew!
The Master's turn is up!
I meant who is who on Team Who? Yeah, let's make this more confusing, why don't we.
DeleteWould it be possible to add the Canadian names to the list too? While I know who they are, I can't spell their names.
DeleteWell, I don't remember the Centurion's exact previous position, but Rory totally stands his ground, reducing both of those moves by 1.
Delete"I don't know who you are, but I will not yield the Pandorica!"
Dwarves for the win! Centurion is back up to square B4.
DeleteI wouldn't have been next to an enemy when I used magic missile. everything I posted was in order that I thought it would have been resolved. Centurion would have been at B4 and I would have been at F2... movement first then magic missile and then freezing burst. and since both attacks hit for freezing burst, Centurion and master should both be 2 squares down at a5 and b6.
DeleteI think the confusion is coming from the current wording on Combo Shot's effect.
DeleteEffect (Free Action): The triggering forced movement ends and at the end of your turn you push both creatures 2 squares away from each other.
The forced movement, the combo'ing, happens at End of Turn. This was designed deliberately to make it harder for Ranged attacks, since the lack of a reliable way of moving around the board slants everyone's tactics to favor Ranged attacks.
So, your turn goes like this:
START OF TURN
Reappear on the map within 3 of where you left, at Square E3.
Drain pulls you down to Square E5, the telethrower.
The telethrower triggers immediately as a No Action, shooting you up and left to stop at Square D4, blocked by the Dwarf at Square C3. This will trigger Combo Shot, to come at the End of Turn.
DURING YOUR TURN
You are at D4, next to the Dwarf. You cast Wizard's Fury, Magic Missile, and freezing burst, taking the opportunity attack (worth it!), and sliding the Dwarf a net of 1 square to B4 and The Master 2 squares to A3.
END OF TURN
You have a primed up Combo Shot, so you push yourself 2 squares away from the Dwarf to be at Square F2, and the Dwarf a net of 1 square to be at B5. The map is a hair off at this point, The Dwarf Centurion should be shown 1 square lower.
... and now time for The Master to go!
ah I see. didn't read the fine print...

(20) CRITICAL HIT!!!
for 23 damage! Trebek is dropped at 0 HP exactly. The day is mine!
Celine Dion reappears into the world!
Banshee reappears to the detrement of all living beings within earshot. She hugs herself as she looks about at who she assums is an adoring public. "I love all this peoples!" She then proceeds to blow kisses to everyone.

Minor Action: Magic Missile against the Doctor
Standard Action: Howling Wall (wall 6 from B6 toF2)
+6 vs. Fortitude against the Master, the Last Centurion, and Bob MacKenzie.
Hit: Slide 3
I will finish the turn when I know who I’ve hit with the wall.
I do not think a Wall 6 can reach Bob and anyone else at the same time. I assume you want the two of us - Trebek too?
DeleteAfter the magic missileing, The Doctor is hanging on by a thread at 3 HP!
ReplyDeleteI interpret the wall starting at B6, then goes to B5, C4, D3, E2, and then F2 -> 6 squares.
A lot of good rolls for Celine. Seems somehow unfair, like reverse karma for being a plague on the world, and Las Vegas in particular...
vs. Bob: (19)+6 vs. Fortitude 11 -5 {there has been FTDM precedent that allies may choose to become helpless to other allies' attacks}; HIT!

vs. The Master: (18)+6 vs. Fortitude 13; HIT!
Slide away!
Angille is correct about the wall; I will revise to merley hit Bob. I will slide him to the drop target at F1.
ReplyDeleteOh man, that means I'm the first person to be GIBBED. Maybe I should stop taunting the other team. But where's the fun in that...
Deleteand I will bumper shot to F7
ReplyDeleteSorry for the slow updates recently, been a busy weekend for me!
ReplyDeleteThe dungeoneers ping pong around the board and Bob McKenzie lights up the machine with a Drop Target! The Master is down to 15 HP, The Doctor dropped at -7 HP, Dwarf Centurion down to 10 HP and bloodied, and finally Jack Harkness is lit up and dropped down to 19 HP. (I'm having trouble getting OpenOffice to change the text on the score. Suffice to say, Team Who? has 1 death.)
The Doctor, starting his turn dying, is assumed to self-gib and Respawn with a (4)+(2) Push!
What I can only have 2^12 characters!? This is going to have to be multiple posts.
ReplyDeleteTrash talk:
As my move is going to be a long one, I thought that the trash talk should be up front so it wouldn’t be missed. In traditional American efficiency*, I present all the Canadian trash talk anyone could need.
www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/weirdalyankovic/canadianidiot.html
* For the benefit of our friends from the north:
efficiency (Can.) – n. accomplishment of or ability to accomplish a job with a minimum expenditure of time and effort
efficiency (US) – n. too damn lazy so someone else can do it
Fluff:
Christopher Eccleston, your time as the Doctor was too short. I hope Heroes was worth leaving Doctor Who for. But, this makes way for David Tennant as the Doctor.
After some strange explosions inside, a regenerated, spiky haired Doctor in a trenchcoat pops his head out the T.A.R.D.I.S. door. “Eh, hosers, I’m just aboot finished with the translater don’t you know. When I’m done we can go oot, grab a beer, and talk aboot hockey.” As he goes back in the door he mutters, “Did I throw some Alaskan in there?”
Back inside the T.A.R.D.I.S. the Doctor laments ,“Come on why can’t I get this to translate Canadian,” as he keeps using his sonic screwdriver at the guts of the T.A.R.D.I.S. The T.A.R.D.I.S. suddenly starts whirring. “What? What?!?! WHAT?!?!?!?!” the Doctor cries out as the T.A.R.D.I.S. blinks out of time leaving the Doctor.
Dark storm clouds blink in and out of existence while growing in intensity. Multi colored lightning arcs between the flickering clouds. “No, no, no! Trying to get the T.A.R.D.I.S. to translate Canadian has caused a temporal storm. Everyone get out of the way!” The Doctor pauses, “Wait I have to try to translate… Let me see… Eh, hosers look oot…” but it’s too late.

Drain: Drop to H9.
Standard: Beguiling Strands, close blast 5 catching Ms. Dion and Mr. Trebek. +8 vs. Will (+5 stat, +1 feet, +2 CA from the Master’s Disruptive Word; possibly more on the unconscious Mr. Trebek). On a hit 5 damage and push 6 spaces (3 standard, +1 feat, +2 Enchanter)

Arcane Whirlwind vs. Celine Dion: (12)+8 vs. Reflex 15; HIT!
Arcane Whirlwind vs. Alex Trebek: (11)+8 vs. Reflex 16 -5; HIT!
they both take (7)+(5)+5 = 17 damage!
Celine is hanging on to consciousness by a thread at 1 HP!
Trebek, however, is GIBBED!!! at -22 HP! Almost negative FULL HIT POINT VALUE! An impressive display of carnage if I have ever seen one!
=== THE EH TEAM HAS LOST THE LEAD!!! ===
However, I did find that the very last combo shot (Item #7) is illegal since there is blocking terrain stopping Bob McKenzie from getting to the Extra Ball square. Hence, he just pushes into the wall/wireframe and stops there.
An informal survey: for clarity, would you guys prefer me to use the black and white original map for the rest of the match?
CANADIANS: Please for the love of all that is holy, check out the force movements here. I think I've got it all right, Kudos to Kurt for the very good formatting, but I'm a little unsure just from the sheer scale of this madness!!!
Otherwise, The Centurion's turn is up!
Still reeling from the Temporal Storm, Rory looks around at possible enemies. Seeing an incarnation of the Master to his right, he seems confused for a second before remembering that this time, they are on the same team. Ah! But there's one of those Canadians! Could they have something to do with where Amy is? Only one way to find out!

IMPORTANT: It's become obvious that this kind of "end of turn" queuing mechanic is in opposition to the spirit of frantic, panic-inducing deathmatches. The map terrain powers have been changed for the remainder of the match. Combo Shot, Bumper, Respawn, and Flipper must happen if triggered, happen instantaneously, and must use the maximum amount of forced movement.
